week 9 post 2: gamifications main objective

Due to the advancement in technology gamification has become a popular strategy to encourage specific behaviors and increase motivation and engagement. Gamification was commonly found in marketing strategies, and it is now being integrated in educational programs. This integration of gamification in education will help educators find balance between achieving their objectives and catering to evolving student needs. Gamification is an important teaching and learning strategy and incorporating gamification into curricular planning will improve students' overall learning process.

The goal of gamification is primarily in the process and not specifically the outcome. Gamification directly affects engagement and motivation, and indirectly leads to obtaining more knowledge and skills. Gamification motivates students to practice, for example coding because it will increase their skill and motivating students to memorize consistently can increase their knowledge. Schools should choose to accept gamification and help develop a game to help students conquer learning obstacles in class.

  1. Do you think people might see this as just busy work? How would you sell a parent on why it should be used at school?
